Health care practitioners have a professional obligation to conduct an assessment for each treatment. Treatment choices are made according to the results of assessments, which indicate to the therapist the tissues involved, precautions that should be taken, and the presence of any treatment contraindications. This course explores common pathologies of the lower body through an examination of posture, range of motion, and orthopedic testing. Clinical assessments are detailed to assist the therapist in ruling in/out certain conditions in the thoracic and lumbar spine, hip and SI joint, knee, ankle and foot.
In this course, you will learn:
- Postural assessment of the spine, hips, and lower limbs.
- Active Free (AF), Passive Relaxed (PR), and Resisted Isometric (RI) Range of Motion assessment of the thoracolumbar spine, SI joint, hips, and lower limb.
- Common pathologies, range of motion presentation, and orthopedic tests to rule in/out common conditions in the trunk and lower limb.
