Assessment is one of the most demanding OSCE stations because it asks you to think critically, act professionally, and adapt your process in real time. This course provides a proven structure to follow, detailed demonstrations, and the opportunity to practice everything from clinical testing to informed communication.

You’ll learn how to begin the station with a confident introduction, explain the purpose of your assessment, and maintain clear, ongoing consent throughout. From there, you’ll be guided step by step through key assessment techniques—postural and gait observation, vitals collection, palpation, range of motion testing, orthopedic special tests, and bilateral comparison—emphasizing safety, efficiency, and clinical rationale.

As you complete assessments, you’ll practice recording your findings on station forms and adapting your approach based on client responses—essential for demonstrating clinical reasoning and readiness for real-world practice. You'll also learn how to clearly communicate your findings and clinical impression, as well as determine whether massage therapy is indicated or if referral to another healthcare provider is warranted.
