Massage Therapy
The State of West Virginia requires the following to obtain a Massage Therapy License:
- Successful completion of a minimum 500 hours approved massage therapy program
- Successful completion of the MBLEx national licensing exam (or the NCBTMB exam if completed prior to Feb. 1, 2015)
- Agree to abide by the Code of Ethics and post it in the therapist’s workplace
The initial license and any subsequent renewal are for a period of two years. A license is valid for two years after it is issued and expires at the end of that month.
Continuing Education Information
The Massage Therapy License requires the completion of 24 CE each two-year term for renewal. Of the 24 CE, at least 3 CE must be in Professional Ethics.
The State of West Virginia* accepts courses for continuing education hours from providers in the CE Registry. The State of West Virginia also accepts courses for continuing education hours from providers approved by the NCBTMB.
