Massage Therapy
Massage Therapy is governed by the State Medical Board of Ohio.
The State of Ohio requires the following to obtain a Massage Therapy License:
- Successful completion of a minimum 750 hours approved massage therapy program
- Successful completion of the MBLEx
Massage Therapist Licenses issued after 10/17/19 expire two years after the original date of issuance. For licenses issued before this date, the renewal date continues to be two years from the same original date.
Continuing Education Information
The State of Ohio does not have any continuing education requirements for the maintenance of Massage Therapy Licensure.
Massage therapists that are registered with a professional association may have additional continuing education requirements. Massage therapists should refer to their professional association for continuing education standards and requirements.
Most associations accept courses approved by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB) and/or the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards (FSMTB). Refer to your professional association for details.
