Massage Therapy
Massage Therapy is governed by the State of Louisiana Board of Massage Therapy.
The State of Louisiana requires the following to obtain a Massage Therapy License:
- Successful completion of a 500-hour approved massage therapy program.
- Successful completion of a national licensing exam within two years of the date of application.
Massage Therapy Licenses are granted for a one-year term. Each license expires on March 31 each year regardless of when the initial registration was completed.
Continuing Education Information
Massage therapists are required to complete 12 CE hours per year.
First-year applicants are not required to complete continuing education in their first year. After the first year, Licensed Massage Therapists must complete only Louisiana State Approved continuing education, as shown on the LABMT website.
Certificates submitted must have the required approved LCEU# on the certificate.
