Massage Therapy
General Information
Massage Therapy is governed by the Alabama Board of Massage Therapy.
The State of Alabama requires that anyone operating or advertising as a massage therapist or offering massage therapy services be licensed by the Alabama Board of Massage Therapy, unless specifically exempt.
The State of Alabama Massage Therapist License requires the following at minimum:
- Successful completion of a min. 650h program from an accredited massage therapy school.
- Successful completion of the NCBTMB or MBLEx exam.
- Obtain and produce evidence of a min. $1,000,000 Personal Liability Insurance coverage.
The Massage Therapist License is for a term of two-years.
Continuing Education Information
Renewal of the Massage Therapist License requires 16 CE hours for each two-year term.
The State of Alabama accepts courses for continuing education hours from providers in the CE Registry.
