Why Continuing Education?
Continuing Education for massage therapists is important regardless of where the therapist is working. Not only is this usually a requirement for maintaining your legal status as a practicing massage therapist, it also means that you are committed to providing the best possible care and experience for your patients/clients.

Continuing Education in Canada
In Canada, becoming a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) is the highest credential in the field.
Becoming a Registered Massage Therapist means that the individual therapist has successfully completed a Massage Therapy diploma program of approximately 2200 hours, with over 330 hours of hands-on clinical practice.
Additionally, RMTs have to complete a rigorous Registration Examination process. In most regulated jurisdictions in Canada, this consists of a written exam, called Multiple Choice Examination (called MCQ) AND the successful completion of a rigorous and timed seven (7) station hands-on clinical examination, called Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE).
In Canada, regulated jurisdictions and professional associations require continuing education (CE). In some provinces, continuing education there are mandated minimum CE hours and therapists must report continuing education units (CEUs). In others, continuing education and professional development is instead competency-based reporting, such as Ontario’s STRiVE Quality Assurance.
Dexterity PD highlights key competencies that are covered in our courses to help streamline your STRiVE Quality Assurance and continuing education reporting.
