Claire Moscone-Biafore, a lifelong sports enthusiast, began practicing karate at the age of 11, achieving top rankings in Canada and North America, multiple grand championships, and induction into the North American Martial Arts Hall of Fame.

Claire’s interest in sport is reflected in her academic endeavors, which led her to York University, where she completed a Specialized Honours BSc in Kinesiology and Health Sciences and earned a diploma in the Sport Therapy Certificate Program, subsequently obtaining national certification. Joining Women’s College Hospital in September 2000, she initiated a private home-based practice. In 2019, Claire also completed a MSc in Kinesiology and Health Science at York University, with her thesis on “The Effects of a Specific Exercise Program on Shoulder Function for Breast Cancer Survivors, 6-9 Post-Mastectomy,” fully affiliated and approved by the Research Ethics Board at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto. She is a current PhD candidate at York University in Kinesiology and Exercise Science.

With over 15 years of experience, Claire expanded her expertise to elite women’s hockey, becoming the Manager of Player Health and Safety for the Canadian Women’s Hockey League. Simultaneously building a practice with around 10,000 patients, Claire pursued a diploma as an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner. Her groundbreaking thesis, “The Effects of Osteopathic Treatment on the Quality of Life in Patients with Scleroderma and Idiopathic Pulmonary Hypertension,” earned acclaim within the Osteopathic community and was presented at the 2008 American Thoracic Society conference.

Claire’s extensive credentials include being a Certified Athletic Therapist (C.A.T.(c)), Osteopathic Manual Practitioner (D.O.M.P.), Registered Kinesiologist (R.Kine), and a 5th Degree Black Belt, Master Level Practitioner. She served as the Pan-Am Games Head Competition Therapist for Karate, Judo, Wrestling, and Tae Kwon Do, and as the former Head Therapist for the Toronto Furies and Brampton Thunder in the C.W.H.L.
