Massage therapy in the State of Tennessee is governed by the Board of Massage Licensure.

The State of Tennessee* requires the following to obtain a Massage Therapy License:
The Massage Therapy License is subject to renewal by December 31 of every even year.
Renewal of the Massage Therapist License requires the completion of 24 CE per two-year period. Of the 24 CE, two (2) CE hours must be completed in Federal and Tennessee statutes and rules concerning Massage Therapists and establishments. Of the 24 CE, two (2) CE hours must pertain to either the management of practicing Massage Therapy, or to Professional Ethics, or to Substance Abuse.
No more then 8 hours of continuing education can be obtained in a multi-media format.
The State of Tennessee* accepts courses for continuing education hours from providers in the CE Registry. The State of Tennessee also accepts courses for continuing education hours from providers approved by the NCBTMB.Â
The State of Tennessee reviews continuing education records in the Department’s electronic tracking system, powered by CE Broker, at the time of license renewal. Our courses are available and listed in CE Broker.
