Massage Therapy is governed by the State of Rhode Island Department of Health, Board of Massage Therapy.
The State of Rhode* Island requires the following to obtain a Massage Therapy License:
- Successful completion of a minimum 800 hours approved Massage Therapy program
- Successful completion of the MBLEx or other approved national licensing exam
- Current First Aid & CPR
- Valid identification
- National criminal record check with fingerprints.
- License verification from all states that a license has been heldÂ
All Massage Therapist Licenses expire biennially. The current cycle runs from July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2027.
The Massage Therapist License requires the completion 24 CE hours biennially for renewal. These hours can all be taken in an online format.
The State of Rhode Island* accepts courses for continuing education hours from providers in the CE Registry. The State of Rhode Island also accepts courses for continuing education hours from providers approved by the NCBTMB.Â
Dexterity PD is a proud Approved Provider with the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards (FSMTB). Our courses are available and listed in the CE Registry. Course completion records are stored in the national Massage Therapy Licensing Database (MTLD) for permanent recording.
