Massage Therapy is governed by the Oregon State Board of Massage Therapy.
The State of Oregon* requires the following to obtain a Massage Therapy License:
- Successful completion of a minimum 625-hour approved Massage Therapy program
- Successful completion of a Board approved national examination (MBLEx, NCBTMB, CESI)
- Successful completion of an Oregon Jurisprudence Exam.
- Electronic fingerprinting and background check
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)Â
- A color photograph (2×2) taken within the last 12 months, along with a copy of a valid government-issued picture ID
- A list of three references that do not reside with you
Renewal applications remain due on the 1st of the LMT’s birth month. Applicants born in odd-numbered years are required to renew their license in odd-numbered years regardless of when the license was issued. Applicants born in even-numbered years are required to renew their license in even-numbered years regardless of when the license was issued.
Massage Therapy License renewal requires the completion of 25 CE hours. Of the 25 CE, at least one (1) must be in Cultural Competency. A minimum of eight (8) CE must be supervised. The required eight (8) CE that are supervised must include at least four (4) CE in Professional Ethics, Boundaries, and/or Communications. The remaining 17 CE can be supervised or unsupervised.Â
Each renewal cycle a licensee’s a licensee must complete the Pain Management module as provided by the Oregon Pain Management Commission (OPMC)
The state of Oregon* accepts courses for continuing education hours from providers in the CE Registry. The State of Oregon also accepts courses for continuing education hours from providers approved by the NCBTMB.
Dexterity PD is a proud Approved Provider with the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards (FSMTB). Our courses are available and listed in the CE Registry. Course completion records are stored in the national Massage Therapy Licensing Database (MTLD) for permanent recording.
