Massage Therapy is governed by the Massage Therapy Board of the New Mexico Regulation & Licensing Department.
The State of New Mexico* requires the following to obtain a Massage Therapy License:
- Successful completion of a minimum 650-hour approved Massage Therapy program.
- Successful completion of a national licensing exam, including one of the following: MBLEx, NCETM or NCETMB
- Successfully pass the board’s Jurisprudence Examination
- Criminal background check and fingerprinting
- Certification in CPR, First Aid, and use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).
Massage Therapy Licenses are subject to renewal every two years on October 31st.
Renewal of the Massage Therapist License requires the completion of 16 CE per two-year licensing period. Of the 16 CE, four (4) CE must be in ethics.
Of the 16 CE, eight (8) CE hours may be completed online, and eight (8) CE are required to be completed in-person.Â
The State of New Mexico* accepts courses for continuing education hours from providers in the CE Registry. The State of New Mexico also accepts courses for continuing education hours from providers approved by the NCBTMB.
Dexterity PD is a proud Approved Provider with the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards (FSMTB). Our courses are available and listed in the CE Registry. Course completion records are stored in the national Massage Therapy Licensing Database (MTLD) for permanent recording.
