New Brunswick is one of five provinces in Canada where massage therapy is a regulated healthcare profession. The College of Massage Therapists of New Brunswick (CMTNB) is the regulatory college for massage therapy.
Massage Therapy is regulated by The College of Massage Therapists of New Brunswick (CMTNB).
To become a Registered Massage Therapist, an individual must successfully complete a minimum 2200-hour program from an approved College.
Candidates must also successfully complete the CMTNB registration exams:
*Massage Therapy membership is allotted for a three-year term. The renewal deadline for practicing Massage Therapists is October 31st.
The renewal of membership requires an RMT to perform at least 500 hours of direct client care within the past three-year cycle using modalities within the scope of Massage Therapy; and/or that the member has completed additional continuing education requirements as required by the College.
Every member of the College must obtain 30 CEUs within each three-year cycle.
The CMTNB no longer pre approves courses. The CMTNB recognizes continuing education activities that have been approved by the CMTNL. Please take a look at the CMTNL list of approvals.
